Frequently Asked Questions About Herbal Suppositories

Herbal suppositories have long been used as part of traditional herbal and personal-care practices. The following questions and answers provide general information about herbal suppositories, their ingredients, storage, and use.

What Are Herbal Suppositories?

Herbal suppositories are handcrafted products made with botanical ingredients, natural oils, cocoa butter, and beeswax that are designed to be inserted and allowed to soften naturally with body heat.

People choose herbal suppositories for a variety of personal-care reasons and often select them based on the herbs and oils they contain. Traditional herbal formulations may include ingredients such as witch hazel, calendula, marshmallow root, slippery elm bark, wild yam root, and other botanicals that have long histories in herbal traditions.

At WiseWays Herbals, our suppositories are handcrafted using carefully selected botanical ingredients and traditional preparation methods.

How Are Herbal Suppositories Typically Used?

Herbal suppositories are designed for convenient insertion according to the directions provided with the product. Once inserted, the natural oils and cocoa butter gradually soften with body heat.

Many customers find that chilled suppositories are easier to handle and insert. Always follow the directions included with the product and consult a healthcare professional if you have questions about whether a product is appropriate for your individual needs.

How Should Herbal Suppositories Be Stored?

Because suppositories are made with natural oils, cocoa butter, and beeswax, they can soften when exposed to heat.

WiseWays Herbals recommends storing suppositories in a cool location. Many customers prefer refrigeration, especially during warmer months, as cooler temperatures help maintain firmness and make handling easier. During periods of extreme heat, temporary freezer storage may also be helpful.

What Ingredients Are Commonly Found in WiseWays Suppositories?

WiseWays suppositories feature a variety of traditional botanical ingredients depending on the formulation. Ingredients may include witch hazel, calendula, St. John's wort, marshmallow root, slippery elm bark, wild yam root, sea buckthorn oil, and other carefully selected herbs.

These botanical ingredients are combined with natural oils, cocoa butter, beeswax, and essential oils to create handcrafted suppository formulations.

What's the Difference Between MenoMoist and Witch Hazel Suppositories?

While both products are handcrafted botanical suppositories, they are formulated with different ingredients and are intended for different uses.

MenoMoist Suppositories were developed specifically for women and contain a blend of botanical ingredients including wild yam root, marshmallow root, slippery elm bark, calendula, sea buckthorn oil, and other complementary botanicals. This product is for vaginal use.

Witch Hazel Suppositories feature witch hazel and other carefully selected botanical ingredients and are suitable for rectal use by both men and women.

Why Is Cocoa Butter Commonly Used in Suppositories?

Cocoa butter has been used in traditional suppository formulations for many years because it remains firm at cooler temperatures while softening naturally with body heat.

When combined with botanical ingredients and natural oils, cocoa butter helps create the smooth texture and consistency that make suppositories practical, easy to handle, and easy to use.

Why Do WiseWays Suppositories Contain Different Herbs?

Each herbal ingredient brings its own unique characteristics and history of traditional use.

Learning about the ingredients in each formulation can help customers choose the products that best fit their interests and preferences.
